Prologue

Six seconds · the district goes dark

A prelude, not the film. The city under the eye holds. Then the district is deleted. One bakery window remains. It goes out.

Synopsis

Debt Floor. The bakery is still lit. The district beside it is already a gap.

Jax “Horizon” Rell runs the highest levels of The Stack. From up there he can see what no one else notices.

Entire districts are vanishing overnight. Buildings, people, memories — erased as if they never existed. The skyline is not a view. It is a record that keeps changing, and Jax is one of the few who still remembers the previous version.

That street had a bakery. By morning the district is a gap. He still has the previous street.

Extended sequence

Debt Floor. After the cut the bakery is a pale rectangle in the rain.

After the last shot the district does not climb back into the record. Rain keeps the old address for a minute. The bakery is already a pale rectangle. Then that goes too.

Figures in the frame

Debt Floor. She keeps the book closed. He holds his palm to the glass.

A woman keeps the book closed. A man holds his palm to the glass, as if a district can be stopped by a hand. Jax “Horizon” Rell is the one who still has the previous skyline. The dossier starts from this frame.

Codex fragment

Debt Floor. A steel plate of The Stack, cracked where the record failed.

The Codex sentence for Debt Floor is the one the camera would not hold: Jax “Horizon” Rell runs the highest levels of The Stack. What the room already knew stays filed with the fragment, not with the feed. Beside that margin there is a story, a scenario, and the share that can be bound.

Sound of Imagination

Download audio

Debt Floor. Room tone on the top floor, before any score is mastered.

Debt Floor has a frequency before any score is mastered — room tone, a held note, the residual of the still that outlived the cut.

Showcase

Debt Floor. Blackened steel model of The Stack. The bakery window is the only warm light. Six kilograms.

If Debt Floor leaves the screen it leaves as an object taken from the universe, a print of the gap, a digital still of the edit, or a piece you can set on a table: the still that outlived the cut, print, or a fragment you can hold. Not merchandise. A piece of Neon Noir that survived the cut.

The Craft

Debt Floor. Still first, then the motion that proves the still was not a pose.

Debt Floor is built still first: the image of the still that outlived the cut, then the motion that proves the still was not a pose, then the residual. The method stays visible so the room does not pretend to be a feed.

Filed in The Houses

Debt Floor filed in Neon Noir. The corridor keeps the climate.

Debt Floor is filed in Neon Noir. House film. The house keeps the climate. The rule of the skyline is written in the world book. The climate keeps this title — not a genre tag taped on after the fact.

After the frame

Mark · keep · letter

Debt Floor. After the district is gone, the street is kept as a record.

Released rooms keep a mark from one to five, a keep on this device, and letters that stay with the page after the feed has moved on. Debt Floor is ready.

A last frame and a sealed letter, kept after the picture ends.
