Before a score

Debt Floor has a frequency before anyone is hired to feel it for you. The top floor. Rain on glass. The low pressure of a building tall enough to edit a city. No speech. Speech would be a character, and this page is not the dossier.

Three tracks. Each is half a minute, which is longer than the prologue and shorter than an excuse. They are not a theme. A theme would tell you when to be sad. These keep the pressure and then stop.

Room tone

The room as it is when the skyline is still a full sentence. Brown dark, rain as a fine high noise, no melody hiding in it. If you turn it up you are doing it wrong. It is the floor, not the event.

Held note

Under the room, a note that does not ask to resolve. Low, almost not a pitch, present the way a policy is present. It sits through the edit and does not comment. The still on the sound desk called a hold. This is that hold, without the picture.

Residual

After the cut. The district does not climb back into the record, and the sound agrees. Tone and rain thin together. What remains is not silence as a comfort. It is the address with the lamps subtracted. Then even that goes.

The picture keeps the window. This page keeps what the window weighed.
