Codex fragment
They gave the song the desert. Then they walked an emptied market looking for a living name. Lira Solt and Orren Quill do not buy. There is nothing open. The song already has one. That is why the stalls closed.
Wet stone is the ledger. Sand on cobbles is the desert arriving as dust, not as landscape. One gold lamp is not a shop sign. The jester is in a stall corner, which is still a corner.
A living name cannot be purchased after hours. This fragment is the closed ledger. The film is the walk. The Codex keeps the reason the market is empty: ownership, not absence.
