Permanent screening

The frame is held. Before the Walls Spoke returns here when the film is filed.

Synopsis

A house with no door, first night. He lies down with his palm on wet lime. Wind through the unfinished lintel is not speech. Before dawn the wall returns a heat that is not his hand. He does not pull away. By morning the plaster has set around that difference.

Extended sequence

The heat is not a ghost and not a warning. It is the wall rehearsing a sentence it will spend years almost saying.

Figures in the frame

One man, palm on the lime. The wall, which is not yet a room with a door. No workmen. They come later.

Codex fragment

The morning the door is hung, and his refusal to show the men the cool place, is not this night. The night beside it is the story. The shot is the scenario.

Sound of Imagination

Wind in an unfinished lintel. Wet lime. No music, because speech has not started.

Showcase

Nothing to cast yet but a temperature in a wall. Not a haunted-house figure.

The Craft

The lens stays on the hand and the plaster. It does not cut to the finished door.

Filed in The Houses

Filed as the first night of the house. The door is a later picture.
