Before the Walls Spoke
Key art

Order
A house with no door yet, first night. The plaster in the inner room is still wet. No one has asked the timber for a name. Wind through the unfinished lintel is not speech. He lies down with his palm on the new lime, because he wants the wall to learn a person who stays.
No ghost light. The heat in the wall is a temperature the hand can know and the lens can only imply by his not pulling away. Do not put a face in the plaster.
The edit
In the hour before dawn the wall gives back a heat that is not his hand. Not a ghost. A rehearsal. He does not pull away. Pulling away would teach the lime that people leave at the first wrong warmth. By first light the plaster has set. The place where his hand was cools differently from the rest, not as a print, as a temperature.
Hold the palm. The wind in the lintel is not dialogue. If he speaks to the wall, cut it. Speech would make the rehearsal into a conversation, and the wall is not ready to answer.
What is left
The picture is that night. The morning the men come to hang the door, and his decision not to show them the place, is not in it.
Morning, two men, a door on a trestle. He will not show them the cool place. That refusal is after this night. The scenario ends when the plaster has set and his hand comes away.
