The splice left open

Key art

After the Cut — The Codex | Aestas Infinity

Watch

Permanent screening

The frame is held. After the Cut returns here when the film is filed.

Synopsis

An editing booth at night. The splice lies on the table. The timeline shows a gap where one frame was taken, and the two edges will not admit they touched. The editor does not search the reel. She puts the splice back in the can and does not seal it.

Extended sequence

She stays with the gap. The studio is not in the room. In the morning other people will call the cut final.

Figures in the frame

The editor, a name the studio has stopped using. The splice. No actor in the missing frame, because the frame is not here.

Codex fragment

The street under the booth is not in this picture. The chair, the glass, and the three letters of the sign are the minute it will not walk down to. The night beside it is the story. The shot is the scenario.

Sound of Imagination

The booth's fan, the small click of a can, no score under the gap.

Showcase

The object is the unsealed can, not a portrait of the person who was in the missing second.

The Craft

The lens stays on the timeline and the table. It does not go outside.

Filed in The Houses

Filed as the booth. The street belongs to the story beside it.
