One line
Before the synopsis
Water rings in the kettle and then is quiet.
Synopsis
Cosmic Horror · Standalone
The window, which held the block of flats opposite, holds distance instead: grey depth with no near edge and no roofline. He sets his palm on the glass. The glass is neither outdoor-cold nor indoor-warm.
He takes the palm back. No print remains to prove the flats were ever there.
He does not change the sequence. He measures leaves into it. The leaves sit dark against the porcelain.
Extended sequence
After the cut
Each tick matches a dim pulse far out in the grey, too even to be cloud or traffic. He counts the ticks against the pulse and they do not drift apart. The burner glows a small orange that the grey outside does not answer.
Steam does not yet show. The cup is already full of a cold light that will not spill when he tips it toward the saucer. The light stays in the cup.
Figures in the frame
Who remains
The kettle water runs clear into the sink and away, ordinary water, leaving the leaves unwet where they sit on top of the light. He lifts the cup in the ordinary way and does not drink. The rim meets his mouth and gives nothing.
The pulse outside slows until it keeps the pace of his wrist. He holds the wrist still. The pulse holds with it.
Codex fragment
Filed with the room
Beyond the glass there is only quiet depth. No roofline returns while he finishes the motions of a morning that no longer needs the tap. He finishes the motions and does not invent a new order.
The scenario is filed in the Codex.
Sound of Imagination
Residual
Quiet at this scale is still a score. Residual belongs to Sound of Imagination.
The rinsed cup was already rinsed. The measured leaves stay measured, sitting on a light that will not wet them. The sink holds a last clear thread of kettle water and then that thread goes down and does not return.
Showcase
Object from the universe
A still of lights that became dust. Not a city miniature. The Showcase
The pulse follows, a second agreement that comes after the first and does not become a skyline. He sets the cup down and begins to wash, though the tap has stopped.
His hands move over an empty bowl in the shape of washing. The leaves in the cup do not sink. The orange at the burner fades, and the ticks of the kettle space themselves to the wrist and then stop, leaving the pulse outside as the only even sound.
The Craft
Image · motion · sound
Stills of the far city. Then the pull-back. Then the inhale. The Craft
His wrist keeps its pace. The grey beyond the glass keeps the same pace and offers no roofline, no opposite block, no near edge to put a morning against.
The saucer under the cup stays dry, because the light refused to spill when he tipped it.
