Synopsis
Rain on the arch and on both of them. A black dress, a wide gold belt, hair stuck to her shoulder, one hand on his lapel. He is in a black leather coat, wet through, and he has not stepped back.
I almost didn't come. He says it like the journey was the gift. I would have waited. She does not thank him for arriving.
A red scorpion sits low at the left and minds the stone. The pair do not look at it. You do.
Extended sequence
Her hand stays on the coat. His hand hangs, not a fist, not open. The rain does the only moving that has no opinion.
Waiting was time she already spent. His almost is a story about himself. They are not the same size.
Figures in the frame
Leo, dressed for a night he nearly skipped. Scorpio, dressed as if the night were a place she holds people in. The belt is the brightest thing in the water.
He is taller and not winning. She is looking up and not asking.
Codex fragment
Elsewhere these signs are the animals alone, mane and tail, no coats. Here the people stayed, and the scorpion is only a red shape at the hem.
The confession and the answer do not match in heat. Neither of them takes a word back.
Sound of Imagination
Rain on leather. Rain on stone. The small creak of a lapel in a hand. Sound of Imagination.
Her sentence does not get a swell under it. The water is already loud.
The Craft
Still: her hand on the wet lapel. Motion: rain off his hair. Residual: the red animal at the edge of the stone. The Craft.
He came. The waiting does not become a debt he gets to mention.
Showcase
Keep the gold belt, not the street. Showcase.
The belt stays bright when the coat and the rain have agreed to be black.
