The object

She lies on a canopied bed in crimson and gold, one arm raised. Gold falls through the dark. She is clothed. The plaque reads The Gold Arrives as Dust.

In the museum she is naked. On the plate and on this base she is not. The robe is part of the object, not a later cover thrown over a nude.

The base is black marble with gold veins. The plaque is brass. The figure leaves the plate. It does not leave the museum, and it is not a toy.
