The figure
The object
A young man stands alone. Dark coat, fur collar, soft cap, boots. The brass plaque reads REMBRANDT-01, The First Watch.
The face is the early one, the Leiden face. The candle and the red panelling of the plate are not on the base. What stands here is the person who keeps the watch, not the room he stands in.
The base is black marble with gold veins. The plaque is brass. The figure leaves the plate. It does not leave the museum, and it is not a toy.
