The Weight of the Mask
Key art
Prologue
Six seconds
Morning in a kitchen that is also an office. The mask is lifted with both hands. The plate is still empty.
Before the strap is fastened, the glass door down the hall has already opened for the shell, not for the eyes.
A kitchen that is also the start of the shift. Both hands, the plate still waiting. The six seconds are the fitting, not the office yet.

The frame is held. The Weight of the Mask returns to this room when the film is filed. The six seconds above are a prelude, not the screening.
Synopsis
Allegory · Standalone
A covering meant to be temporary becomes the only public surface left. The film treats it as a social machine, not as costume horror. Once enough people answer to the surface, the surface is the person they know how to live with.
Colleagues bow to the forehead of the mask. Dialogue thins to syllables aimed at the symbol. Allegory files the debt here: the face you greet is the one the room agreed to see.
Through the eye-slit the corridor is the only world the mask allows. The covering was temporary. The slit is now the address.
Extended sequence
After the cut
In the kitchen the hooded figure sits with the mask between ordinary plates, and a man goes on working beyond the glass as if this were a shift. Through the eye-slit the corridor is the whole world. On the bench the seam is still being stitched, which means the shell was never finished before it was worn.
The weight is not the porcelain. It is the number of people who will only speak to it.
The kitchen and the bench are the same job seen twice. One is the wearing. One is the making. Neither shot lets the face underneath become the subject.
Figures in the frame
Kept at the edge
A hand, and the mask, and almost no face around them. The wearer is kept at the edge on purpose. The room has already decided which surface gets the greeting.
Who remains is the weight, not a worker with a biography. When a dossier is written it starts from the strap and the shell. It does not start from a cast list brought in from another room.
Codex fragment
The sentence the camera would not hold: the mask was not a disguise. It was the only address the office was willing to file.
The office filed the face. A masked skull on a row of folders is not a joke about bureaucracy. It is the sentence: the mask was the only name the drawer knew.
Sound of Imagination
A strap pulled through a buckle. Fluorescent hum. Cutlery set down too carefully. No swell under the picture. The pressure is the room agreeing.
The corridor already hums. The kitchen already sets things down too carefully. A score under either would turn a social machine into a scare, and the film declines that.
Showcase
Object from the room
The shell on a scale, among awls and cloth, weighed as an object rather than worn as a face. If it leaves the screen it leaves as that weight: a fragment of the harness, not a costume you put on for a night.
It points back to this room. It is not offered until the edition is real.
The Craft
Image · motion · sound
The harness, then the files with a face laid on them, then the broken shell and the drawing. The still that decides the climate comes before the object. What a person will sign is the finished room, not the tool that cut the strap.
After the wearing, the bench keeps the failure: a shell that cracked and a drawing that still believes the shape can be repeated. That is the process the room is willing to show.
