Above a mountain pass locked in permanent golden hour, a needle of obsidian and brass rises into purple-gold cloud. The sun has not moved for three hundred years.
Inside the spire, vast clockwork turns with a low pulse. Vanea the Sun-Keeper stands before the Great Ocular — silver-woven robes, worn brass armor, golden runes along her hands answering the frozen light.
She reaches for the Lever of Eternity. A beam fractures through the lens and writes floating runes in the dust. Somewhere in the mechanism, a crystal-brass chain cracks with a long metallic cry.
The sunset is not dying. It is waiting.

The Great Ocular splits. The beam writes runes in the dust and does not finish the sentence. Somewhere in the clockwork a crystal-brass chain gives — one long cry.
Outside, the sun does not drop.
