EXT. BLACK STONE FLOOR — SUSPENDED IN THE VOID

A round floor of black stone hangs above a sky the color of dying coal. No walls. No rail. The edge is the end of the stone.

At the center, a broken ring of gold light. The gap in it is the width of one step.

THE LAST WEAVER (60s) stands inside the ring. Star maps are stitched from her shoulder to her hem. Golden THREADS rise out of the floor and thin as they climb. No wind. The threads sway anyway.

She watches one thread leave the stone, bright at her feet, dim at her shoulder, gone above her head. A second thread takes the same path.

Her open hand hangs at her side. She draws one thread back down. Gold smears her palm. The smear fades while she looks at it, and the thread climbs again, thinner.

Below the floor, a red seam in the coal-sky narrows. The dark there is gaining on the last heat.

She takes one step toward the gap. The stone under that foot goes cold enough to show in the set of her ankle. She brings the foot back inside the ring.

Gold from the ring reflects in her eyes, two small arcs. The arcs thin as the threads thin.

A loose thread finds her wrist, wraps it once, and slips upward off the skin, leaving a pale line where it held.

She lifts her hand over the gap. The threads dim. The dark pulls harder.

A constellation stitched on her sleeve tears loose and drifts up, a clean diagram leaving bare cloth.

She pins a second map on her hem with two fingers. Light under her nails goes out, one nail then the next. The map lifts at the corner she is not holding.

A pebble at the edge of the floor breaks free and falls upward, past her shoulder, into the void.

Her breath shows, a small pale cloud. It rises instead of sinking, and the void takes it.

The ring answers. A fragment of black stone, a gold constellation still set in it, breaks free and falls up after the pebble. The gap widens from a step to the width of her shoulders.

Star-ink on the hem pales, map by map. The collar map stays dark a moment longer. She touches it. One corner of that map loosens and lifts.

A single stitch at her cuff rises, snags on a remaining thread, trembles, and settles back on the cloth, paler than the maps that left.

She holds her ground. Her hand stays over the rupture.

The threads that remain are few enough to count. Below her, the red seam in the sky has closed. Above, the void drinks the last of the gold and gives no map back.

Shooting script

Scene 1. Black stone floor. The void. 2:57. 16:9.

The scene above is the shooting script. One woman. No dialogue. One floor and the sky it hangs in.

The floor is round and black. No wall. No rail. The edge is the end of the stone. A broken ring of gold light has a gap the width of one step. By the end the gap is the width of her shoulders.

She is sixty. Maps are stitched from her shoulder to her hem. Threads rise and thin. One stitch comes back down, paler than the maps that left. A red seam under the floor narrows, and then it is closed.

Breakdown

What the void has to hold.

Cast. The Last Weaver, 60s. She is alone on the stone.

The floor. Round, black, matte, large enough for the ring and one step toward the gap. The edge is clean. Nothing beyond it but the coal sky.

The ring. Thin gold light, set in the floor or a finger's width above it. One gap. A segment can leave, and that segment still carries a small gold mark. The mark is not a word.

Threads. Few, gold, brighter at the floor and gone above her head. By the last hold they are few enough to count.

Objects that rise. One pebble. One fragment of the ring. Her breath, visible, rising. A stitched map that leaves the sleeve. One cuff stitch that rises, snags, and settles back.

The seam. A red line in the sky under the floor. It narrows, and it is gone before the last hold. Light, not a wound.

Lookbook

Heat leaving black stone.

One source: the ring, low and warm, dying. The sky is the color of a fire that has gone out. Gold thins. It is not replaced with blue spectacle. The only crimson is the seam, and the seam closes.

Palette

Black stone. #141210. The floor.

Dying coal. #241814. The void.

Last heat. #5C2A22. The sky before the seam closes.

Red seam. #7A2E24. A line under the floor, then gone.

Thin gold. #C4A15C. Threads at their brightest, near the floor.

Faded gold. #6E6244. Threads at the shoulder. Maps that pale.

Gold on the palm. #B08A48. The smear, before it fades.

Pale breath. #D6D0C6. Breath, and the line on the wrist.

Bare cloth. #3A342C. Where a map has left.

Star-ink. #1C2430. The collar map. The last dark stitch.

Lens

Wide on the floor. Close on the palm, the eyes, the cuff. The arcs in her eyes are the ring, reflected.

Costume

The coat is the prop.

One long coat, dark bare cloth, heavy enough to hang still. There is no wind to move it. Star maps are stitched in dark ink with a little dull gold thread. They are diagrams on cloth, not lights and not sequins.

One map on the sleeve can leave in a single piece. One map on the hem lifts at a corner while two fingers hold the other side. The collar map stays darker until she touches it. At the cuff, one real stitch can rise a few centimetres and settle back, paler than the maps that left.

The ankle shows the cold in the step. Hands bare. Nails short. The light under two of them goes out.

The costume loses maps. It is not changed for another.

Design

A floor, a broken ring, a sky almost out.

The floor is round and matte. Past the edge there is only the coal sky.

The ring is thin. The gap starts at the width of a step and opens to the width of her shoulders. The piece that leaves carries a small gold mark, like a scrap of the ring.

The sky is dying coal, warmer toward the floor. The red seam under the floor narrows, and then it is gone.

Makeup and hair

Sixty. The face is lived-in. The hands carry the gold.

Gold stays on the thread and the ring. The arcs in the eyes are the ring, reflected.

Gold touches the palm and fades. The wrist keeps a fine pale line where the thread wrapped, the color of the breath.

Hair long enough to move only if a thread brushes it. Grey is welcome. Nothing gold is wound into it. It stays off the collar, so the collar map can be seen when she touches it.

Sound

A void with no wind.

Stone. A low, dry presence under the wide shot.

Threads. A faint rub, silk on silk. They sway, and the sound is still not wind.

The seam. A soft narrowing, lower than the threads. It ends when the red is gone.

The step. Sole on stone, shorter than the step back inside the ring.

The wrist. One wrap. One slip.

The map. A small tear of stitches, then nothing.

Pebble and fragment. Stone leaving stone. The sound rises and thins. It never lands.

Breath. One breath, rising.

The cuff. A snag, a tremble, a settle. The smallest sound in the film. Then stone. The gold leaves without a chime.
