Behind the Men
Key art
Synopsis
Black velvet, gold piping, an open white shirt, thin chains, a Gemini pin. Platinum hair across the face. Behind him two pale, shirtless figures stand in profile and fail at the edges.
Smoke. Sparks. They will not stay solid long enough to be asked anything.
Who am I, asked here, gets one body still dressed and two bodies leaving the category.
Extended sequence
The pale pair do not look at him. They look along the hall, which is a way of looking at nothing. Outlines give up at the shoulder and the hip.
He keeps the clothes. That is the last human courtesy in the frame. The pin is very small next to it.
Figures in the frame
One man, the sign still attachable to a lapel. Two figures with the same white hair and none of the tailoring, losing the waist.
Nothing is pouring. Something is burning off. This is not the women's water with the clothes swapped.
Codex fragment
Behind the Women stays a stream. Same Like Me holds on and doubles. This one lets the extra bodies dissolve while the dressed one wears the pin like a name at a fire.
The posture gets no speech. Coming apart is the speech.
Sound of Imagination
A soft burn. Cloth when he breathes. Sparks that tick and do not catch the velvet. Sound of Imagination.
The pale figures have no voice left. They are past it.
The Craft
Still: velvet, a pin, a white shirt. Motion: two profiles turning to sparks. Residual: embers along the floor. The Craft.
The pin will not answer who he is. It is what he has left.
Showcase
Keep the pin, not the columns. Showcase.
The hall is stone. The pin is the last solid name in a shot that is coming apart.

This is not a portrait. It is a disappearance with the witness still inside it.
