The Clam

Synopsis
Orange light, water as a thin shine. A green body with a face, black goggles, straps, gloves, and a leaf coming out of the head. Opposite, an old woman in a red cap and a red top, each with a small white cross, grey hair back, two wooden crutches, one finger aimed.
She is spending a sentence on him. He has the gear and does not produce a wiser line.
The room is named for a shell. The shell does not show up to defend itself.
Extended sequence
Her mouth is open. His is not winning. The low sun makes both of them taller than the argument deserves.
A sprout is not a character reference. Goggles are not a job. She points anyway, because the beach gave her nothing more respectable to correct.
Figures in the frame
One figure who borrowed a person's posture and a diver's kit. One woman with the crutches, the red, and the only finger in the scene.
They look at each other. The water looks at neither.
Codex fragment
The indoor cousin of this joke is a bay, a uniform, and a line about pain. This is the shoreline version, and the punchline refuses to be human.
The quiet one in the title is a shell, and the shell left the cast.
Sound of Imagination
Small surf. Wood of a crutch in wet sand. Her voice, and the lack of a decent reply. Sound of Imagination.
The leaf does not rustle enough to count as a speech.
The Craft
Still: a pointing finger and a sprout. Motion: her mouth. Residual: orange water that takes no side. The Craft.
The beach ends the bit the way beaches do. It shines and stays out.
Showcase
Keep the goggles, not the sunset. Showcase.
Sunsets are cheap. Goggles on a body that is not a swimmer are the joke.
