Synopsis

Darling, in this war, love is the only crime we did not commit. She says it in the rain, black and gold, a hand already taken, a green car with a scorpion on the grille.

Then let's be guilty. Neon hotels repeat down the street. A bar sign does not bother to spell a longer invitation. The night is Chicago, and the last crime worth committing is the one they have not started yet.

Extended sequence

Headlights on. The door not yet used.

Other cars are in the wet. None of them is the one they chose.

Figures in the frame

A woman with a dark wave of hair, a slit in the skirt, a heel in the rain.

A man in a black three-piece and a fedora, close enough that the rain has to go around them.

Codex fragment

Sound of Imagination

The Last Crime is the street after the decision and before the door. The rain does the talking.
