One line
Before the synopsis
A low hill is green for a woman on the road and, for the man beside her, already gone, a gap of air where she still sees slope.
Synopsis
He looks at nothing in that place and does not correct her with a hand. Crowns rest on a table in the open, and their weight changes as memory changes. When the man recalls a heavy gold band, that band sinks into the wood.
When he doubts it, the band lightens until he can barely feel it. His fingers hover and come away without a ring. The woman speaks a border.
As she names the river and the ridge, a fence thickens out of the grass along that line, posts becoming solid under her certainty. Wire appears between the posts, dull, and holds. The man tries to recall the name of the province beyond the fence.
Extended sequence
He gets as far as a first syllable and loses the rest. His mouth stops on the unfinished sound. The fields past the fence pale. A village roof sinks out of view, not destroyed, erased, the way a word leaves a page.
A chimney goes with the roof. He stops speaking at once. The erasure stops with his silence, half a province gone.
Figures in the frame
What remains of the far side is a pale field with no roof and no name he can finish. She puts a hand on the crown that matches the story she trusts. It grows heavy enough that she must set it down. The wood takes the weight and keeps a deeper print than the other crowns have made.
He does not touch it. His hand stays at his side. The fence remains, reinforced by the border she still holds in her mouth.
Codex fragment
Half a province remains pale. The road under their shoes does not decide which of them is right about the hill, and the heavy crown keeps the only weight either of them is willing to leave where it is. A second crown, lighter, rolls a fraction when the wind crosses the table and stops against the heavy one. He does not steady it.
The scenario is filed in the Codex.
Sound of Imagination
She does not name another border. The fence wire hums once and goes silent. Beyond the posts the pale field stays pale. No roof rises back out of the erasure.
Showcase
A post settles a finger deeper into the ground and stops. Beyond it, the missing hillside does not return. The green she sees and the gap he sees stay side by side without becoming one view.
The crown sits heavy on the table between them, and neither of them picks it up again. The other crowns stay lighter, almost careless on the wood. Wind crosses the fence and does not take the posts down.
The Craft
The green hill she still sees does not become visible to him, and the gap he sees does not eat the green out of her view. Their shoes stay on the road.
Neither steps through the fence to test the missing province with a footprint. The heavy crown keeps its print in the wood.
Read it as written. The scenario.

The next room
After this filing
The unfinished syllable stays unfinished in the air between them, and the realm continues as two descriptions standing on the same road without agreeing on the hill. The next room is Crown of Fog.
