One line
Before the synopsis
Wind crosses the grass between the stones, lays it flat, and crosses it again in the same direction, as if the first pass had not been enough to count.
Synopsis
A line of letters starts to write itself across the sky and stops before the word can be read. The strokes hang pale. A later stroke tries to join them and fails to land.
The landscape stutters. The same hill appears twice, one a little to the left of the other, grass overlapping grass.
No one smiles at the fault. It behaves like weather. She completes the gesture, palms opening, and the circle answers with a low hum.
Extended sequence
The hum sits in the stones and does not climb. Then the gesture undoes itself. Her hands close again, rise again, and fall back to her sides, as if the sequence had lost its place and returned to an earlier second.
The hum drops with the hands and returns when the palms open a second time, thinner than before. A man's face, turned toward the hill, splits along the cheek like wet paper and reseals without a mark. He touches the place and finds it whole.
Figures in the frame
He touches it again a moment later. The skin is still whole, and his fingers stay there as if the split might return under them. The bow around the circle breaks and reforms.
Shoulders rise, dip, and settle into the same bow, a little less even than the first. She tries the return: a step back toward the stone that would end the rite. She is both leaving the center and still standing in it.
Codex fragment
No one in the circle steps out of the ring to test which hill they bowed toward. Time holds in the open seam. Her hands remain half lifted. The seam in the air above the stone stays open a finger's width.
The scenario is filed in the Codex.
Sound of Imagination
Through it the same grass shows, slightly delayed, moving after the grass outside it. A stone in the ring ticks once, a small dry sound, and does not crack. The hum does not rise to a finish and does not die.
Showcase
The grass under the repeated step lies down and then stands up inside the same print. The letters in the sky attempt one more stroke and fail, hanging incomplete over the doubled hill.
The doubled hill shifts by a hand's width. The left hill slides farther left. The overlap of grass thickens into a darker band.
The Craft
The man's fingers leave his cheek. The bow holds, broken once and put back, and no mouth opens to name the fault.
Dust on the nearest stone does not blow clear. The rite neither finishes nor starts over clean.
Read it as written. The scenario.

The next room
After this filing
The incomplete letters stay where the last stroke failed, and the seam above the stone keeps its narrow opening while the doubled hill holds its overlap and does not choose a single slope. The next room is Audience of One.
