The portrait was going well until the face remembered it had options. Magenta arrives like gossip. The rat does not ask permission. It occupies the head as if the skull were vacant office space, which, cynically, it was.
Don't Blink smiles with too many teeth and calls it poetry. Fine. The poem has whiskers.

The melt continues after the cut. Gloss. Bruised violet. A thought that will not clock out. If you came for a moral, the rat ate it.
